Dr. Stangl is a native of Iowa who received his Bachelor of Arts, Magna Cum Laude, from Carleton College in Northfield Minnesota. He returned to Iowa to attend medical school at the University of Iowa Medical School. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in Madison in 2003 followed by subspecialty fellowship training and advanced fellowship training.

During his training he performed medical research leading to several publications and awards before he was selected to complete his advanced fellowship training in ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). 
 

Dr. Stangl has adopted Colorado as his home where his special expertise in digestive endoscopy and imaging techniques raises the level of care in Colorado Springs and he can avail himself of the ample opportunities to pursue his love of outdoor activities such as skiing, fly-fishing, hiking, and playing golf.
